On-cycle from Tier 2 City

Incoming analyst at a shop in a T2 city - I've heard of prior analysts recruiting on-cycle but during covid when everything was virtual. Curious to see what the landscape is like for on-cycle recruiting from other cities in today's climate. Is this even possible? Any color would be greatly appreciated.

Depends on the city. SF/top LA or Chicago groups you are fine, Houston/Charlotte etc it depends but speaking generally you are not going to get as much traction for oncycle as NY analysts. It ends up being group-specific, if people from your group have gotten oncycle outreach/offers that is positive for you - but if everyone lands roles through offcycle you may need to wait.

It's possible but the second you hear whispers about oncycle you need to get yourself on a plane to NY. Work from the NY office for a day if you need to or just remote/call in sick, but if you wait until you start getting interview invites you'll have missed a big chunk of interviews.

Recruited from Houston into NYC - got any MF/top tier infra/energy call and but that would not have been the case if I wanted to go generalist at all. The city isn’t going to box you in - it’s more industry
