(On-Cycle Hire) Networking Before Starting Full-Time
Current 2nd year analyst in IB who received an offer on-cycle in buyout PE my 1st year which is set to begin in summer 2024.
Is it recommended to reach out and network with members of my group prior to starting full time? Not sure of the etiquette here and if it would be viewed favorably or would be bothersome/ unnecessary and I should just wait until training.
Other analysts who were hired on-cycle, did you network prior to starting and would you recommend? Same question to senior IPs - how you would feel about an incoming associate reaching out?
I don’t know if recommended but certainly can’t hurt, and some people do it. Nothing weird about reaching out to an associate/VP/principal in the group that you’ve interacted with and asking to grab coffee!
