On-Cycle Recruiting ?

Incoming analyst at NYC EB (MOE/PWP/LAZ) from non-target (non-URM). Interested in GE and UMM PE (not MFs).

Considering whether or not to do on-cycle. On one hand, I'm excited to work in banking and don't want to dismiss it as an option before giving it a chance. However, I think the more strategic nature of investing interests me more than being an advisor.

If I know I don't want to stay in banking, should I go for on-cycle processes? Or is it worth it to give banking a chance and risk missing out on top opportunities?

what can i do to optimize the situation/be in the best possible position?

Thanks. Do you mind if I ask why it's so obvious? Why do you say 100% -- am I far more likely to get a top offer in on-cycle vs the rest of my first year?

On-cycle forces funds to look at relative interview performance and that is a big help for non-targets/non-diverse candidates, off-cycles gives them time to filter through for traditional characteristics like prestige/bank group/diversity etc
