Path from ER to Buyside Fundraising

I think fundraising is an underappreciated part of the investing ecosystem and want to explore a potential career path to get there. I’m in ER currently but have a little bit of experience at an LP. I would think the most direct path would be to HF IR but I don’t think they fundraise or value fundraising as much as PE. I know there’s always the placement agent route too but I’m not too familiar with that and would want to avoid an extra step if possible. What would you guys recommend?
