PE-Firms Focused on Diamond Mining

Hello all, this is an industry I'm rather new to. Data on the diamond industry is sometimes a little onerous to come by due to its nature. Finding private equity firms that specifically invest in it has also proven difficult. I'm aware of the big players like KKR and Apollo having investments in Rio Tinto and BHP, but finding smaller players has been considerably more difficult.

What would be a good place to find a list of active investors in diamond mining?

How specific are you trying to be here? Are you looking for PE firms which would look at a diamond mining investment or just generally investors who have investments in diamond mining?

I would start with a list of the larger diamond mining companies and see if you can search for their investors (e.g., I believe De Beers is majority owned by Anglo American which in turn is widely held). I suspect you will find significant government ownership and ownership by large diversified miners (but I could be wrong because I don't follow diamonds). From a quick search here are 10 that you could start with: 1) De Beers 2) Alrosa 3) Rio Tinto 4) Debswana 5) Dominion Diamond 6) Lucara 7) Petra Diamonds 8) Gem Diamonds 9) Anglo American 10) Rockwell Diamonds
