PE group in PF - salary & progression?

Currently interviewing for one of the big pension funds in their London office (think OTTP, USS, CPP, OPP). This is for their private equity team (not fund of funds etc, this is direct investment).

What can I expect in terms of comp and career progression? E.g. what is an associate and above paid at these places? I think this is a good halfway house between IB and full-on PE, as I value WLB. Could a move to traditional PE be on the cards further down the line?
