It's very quiet - there's a lack of attrition across the market and PE firms move much more slowly than banks to hire / fire just given that longer-term outlook. So there's nervousness about over-hiring. Add that to a lot of funds having difficulty fundraising right now.

I can’t speak to other tiers but most MFs are hiring their associate class currently
Any names? Some funds are hiring for sure but wouldn't say "most", things definitely feel a lot slower than they have been in past years
Agree, my impression especially on MFs its slow / some funds even cut on Associate level
Advent, Bain, BC Partners, H&F are all hiring
literally every fund is hiring, had multiple HH inbounds in last weeks (Bain Cap, Thoma Bravo, KKR, Advent etc.)
Have heard some MFs firing associates (can’t disclose which ones as it’s a small group of people to protect privacy)

We're UMM and we're kicking off interviewing soon for September start. We're hiring fewer vs. last year's September class (team has been less busy given the market) but we're still hiring.

I think we had more churn than expected so just replacing that but definitely not recruiting as much as 12-18months ago.
