PE in Boston

Recently signed an offer to go to Boston for PE at a MM fund this summer and was just curious, why is there so many Pe funds out there? All the other major cities have large banks except Boston - they just have PE (Chicago has a ton of banks, LA and SF). Curious how this dynamic works with juniors given moving cities is an adjustment

It certainly is interesting as to why Boston is such a big AM/PE hub relative to its size compared to other cities. Not sure about the history, but would like to know.

EDIT: not fully related but I had asked this before actually (damn, exactly a year ago!), some interesting answers
