PE Offers

Many banking analysts have already accepted PE offers for 2010 or have started PE positions they accepted around this time last year. I'm wondering what some of your offers are/were like.

I'm trying to squeeze into a very specialized shop and as a result be able to negotiate a pretty solid comp package. I'm hoping for 110-125 base + 150 bonus + (10 to 25bps carry). But obviously depending on what market currently is, I may be asking for more/less.

Its a very specialized $3B AUM fund and I think I have a basis for justifying an above-market comp. I'm just trying to accurately gauge what market is... without shelling out $3K for the GloCap compensation report.

Ive stated this before but anyways... Mine is a bit lower ($250MM fund), and I just finished one year in banking.

base: $85k Sign-on: $20k Bonus: $70-150k

Plus they paid back my bank the signing bonus that I had to pay back, which was nice.

Marcus, 1st year analyst (post 2 year IB stint)?

Base: 100-120 Bonus: 80%-100% of base Carry: really depends on the shop (many shops do not offer participation)

Based on the AUM I would nego for 120 base + 140 bonus and as much carry as possible (anything beyond 25 bps seems aggressive given your current position)

Bc its specialized maybe you are nego from a point of leverage but in this environment I would not get piggish

Is it $3bn AUM, including all legacy funds, or their most recent fund is $3bn and they have older funds? Is it a team of 10 folks or a team of 50? What kind of hours are expected of you?

I think the offer you are trying to negotiate for is way above market right now. By $150 bonus do you mean up to $150? That might be more reasonable. Also, MOST shops do not give carry to a pre-MBA associate. If you get any carry at all, consider yourself lucky.

I don't think our pre-mba staff gets any carry at all.
