PE Recruiting Cycles 2020/2021

Hey guys / gals,

I just finished my first year at a MM IB I was focused on the job and did not go through 2020 recruiting (I know big time mistake for someone that wants to be in PE). Just wanted to get some opinions on what’s out there in the market (Ideally I’d like to be at a MM buyout shop, fairly agnostic location wise).

A couple of question for those more experienced than me? (1) At this point are most 2020 spots at even reputable MM shops completely filled?

(2) My Analyst program is a 3 year program, given that, should I try to recruit for 2021? Are 2nd year analysts even allowed to interview for 2021 spots?

(3) What can I proactively be doing to give myself the best chance if landing a spot moving forward?

Appreciate any help you guys can offer.
