Portfolio Monitoring Software

Anyone have experience (pros / cons) using iLevel, Cobalt or Chronograph software at their firm? I’m focused on the GP perspective of using the tool to track performance, valuation, and returns, etc. on portcos. Thanks in advance

Acuity Knowledge Partners support private equity & venture capital fund managers and limited partners in portfolio monitoring and report generation using various software including all the tools listed above. iLevel is, no doubt, one of the most comprehensive solutions available in the market, but Cobalt and Chronograph are not far behind in terms of tracking the performance of portcos’ financials and KPIs. Acuity Knowledge Partners' tool FolioSure also has in-depth capabilities (disclaimer – I work AKP). If you are also looking for a valuation module and Excel plug-in functionalities and to upload/download data across files and systems, then look at iLevel.

However, with all these software there is a common issue that most of our clients face is the complexity of software, which requires spending time to learn how to use the tools efficiently. Also, with completely off-the-shelf solutions there is a big question about data quality and integrity. Most times you need an associate to verify all the data.

This is why several general partners prefer to look for software solutions that include the support of a managed services team such as FolioSure to manage a fund manager team’s groundwork – from data collection, validation, uploading, and maintenance to report generation, which saves them considerable time.

Do reach out to us if you need support on any of the tools mentioned by you or want a demo of FolioSure.

Chronograph is 100% the way to go. Not only is there tech very strong (and growing their team more and more), but the founders and others within Chronograph have PE experience and really understand the needs and wants of customers and understand the space exceptionally well. They will be the biggest/best player in the space in a very short time.
