Portfolio Valuation Energy Infrastructure Exit Options

Hi All,

I received an offer for a portfolio valuation associate position at a large renewables company.

My ultimate goal is to end up in the structured finance/ investment team either within this company or at another infrastructure company.

Is portfolio valuation considered a good starting point to go into an investment team? Is the transition doable?

Thank you for your help!

Could be done. Get exposure to those models and understand how the pro formas work. Understand the life cycle of the projects, key milestones, and the financing process. Network with the teams and get to know them. That should be easier as you're probably on a team that has somewhat of a connection with them. I also work at a larger developer on the same team but we typically see people move on from these roles to others roles within the company as that transition is much easier.

Hi,

Thank you very much for your answer.

Apparently the team is working very close with the structured finance team.

They receive the models post financial close from structured finance and then further develop them.
And also in the divestment of the asset both teams work together, which makes the transition more likely, I guess.

Can I further ask, where do you typically see people move after a portfolio valuation role?

Again thanks a lot!
