Possible to move to PE Buyout from PE Cap Mkts
I'm going to be asso 2 in a month at MF doing capital markets. For background I did a couple years at BB in levfin before moving here.
Curious if it is:
1. Even possible to move to traditional PE buyout? (I have had trouble gaining traction from HHs, given lack of M&A / real modeling experience)
2. Is it worth it? Right now I work very livable hours typically 9-7, with little weekend work, and my comp is ~300k all in. Although I feel like I am not learning all that much and that my skillset is becoming very niche.
3. Better to stay and apply to MBA and then recruit for PE post-MBA
