Private Placement/Private Funds Questions

Hi everyone, I am working into a niche group called the Private Funds Groups that act as 'Placement Agents' to PE/HF sponsors and I had been in search to understand what Associates/VPs/MDs look in a Summer Analyst during interviews?

I have heard a mix in potential 'interview questions' ranging from understanding M&A in-depth to 'purely having a conversation'. I am wondering what topics I should be aware of besides the typical 'why pfg vs rx' or 'what is pe' that touches on basic common logic.

Can anyone who have been through a process like this or who have run an interview process shed some light on what look for in the summer analyst program and some specific questions that have popped up throughout the interviews?

Thanks monkeys
