QIA

Morning folks,

I’m currently at offer stage with the Qatar Investment Authority. I’m still waiting for the economics (which I expect to be significantly better than my current package), but I’d really appreciate a second opinion from anyone who has worked there or has been in touch with the team.

The people I met seemed great and genuinely happy, but I’d like to get a better sense of what it’s actually like to work there day-to-day, beyond the interview process.

Also, have you heard of people making the move back to Europe after a few years there? If so, what do you think they are bringing to the table when they come back, and how easy/difficult is that transition?

For context, I’m currently at a mid-cap REPE fund in London with a good package. Hours are intense, as we’re basically always doing deals, and I’m the only Associate. The fund is doing well, but I don’t have carry yet but I should get some BPS at the end of the year.

On the personal side, I am in a relationship and my miss grew up in the Gulf, so she’s very supportive of the move. We’re planning to start a family at some point, but being in our late 20s, we’re not in any particular rush, but there seem to be a great place to do that.

In essence, any advice, point of view or suggestion would be massively appreciated. I’m trying to get a better sense of whether this could be a genuine game changer or whether there are potential pitfalls I’m not seeing.

Thanks in advance.
