Quitting with no notice - leaving to client/PE

Any thoughts on this? Have PE offer for a start in 2 weeks and I'd rather take it off than work 2 more weeks on mindless BS. They are buying out my bonus so comp isn't a concern. Given I'm going to a client, feel there's limited damage there in terms of relationship/burning bridges.

This is a horrendously short-sighted and bad idea... seriously, why burn all of your bridges to begin with over this...? 2 month notice period would be a different situation, but you will be working 9-5 or less as soon as you put your notice in. You're much better off just phoning it in, taking a while to do any assigned work etc, instead of just up and quitting.

This is a very small industry and one of those people at the bank might be in a position to help you down the line.

best advice is to give the notice and then just chill for the rest of the time you're there, you practically WILL be taking the time off just "working" somewhat. Don't risk killing relationships for this bro

I would strongly recommend against it. These people are your future references for the next 10 years potentially. You’ll literally be destroying bridges that you just spent the last years building through endless hours of hard work. People tend to get really upset about this sort of stuff and will hold it against you (forever sadly). I very much understand the desire to take the time off, but I think the best suggestion is to just drop your effort level to a minimum rather than walk out completely.

Pretty short sighted approach. Unless you're joining for a senior position it isn't uncommon for shit to be spoken about your exit to your new firm, even if they are a client.
