Hi everyone, this is the situation I'm in. I'm an incoming PE analyst at a UMM (think L Catterton/ GTCR/GoldenGate/BDT/etc), doing buyouts. How difficult will it be to do on-cycle or off cycle MF PE recruiting in my situation? Here are some of my questions: Are analysts in the groups that I listed above considered to be stronger/weaker candidates than the IB groups I listed above? Will location be a huge barrier while recruiting? I'm assuming I'll have to be discreet.

Current PE analyst 2 - Nah i’ve seen it done before you’re gonna be fine if you were a competitive summer analyst/ft candidate anyways. But think abt how much you would give up before you switch firms. The comp difference is probably tiny but you’ll be far better at the job / system in Firm A than Firm B. Not that you should stay tied down to one place, but if it gets you a faster promotion by staying as an associate, prob not worth re recruiting at that level unless you wanna switch investment style.

Recruiting for On Cycle/ Off Cycle while being PE analyst

How difficult will it be to do on-cycle or off cycle MF PE recruiting in my situation? Here are some of my questions:

Will location be a huge barrier while recruiting?

I'm assuming I'll have to be discreet. There's not a lot of information out there regarding this so would appreciate a perspective from someone who is a current/former MM/UMM PE analyst. Thank you!
