The real downside to someone figuring out who you are is that they start to question your maturity and professionalism if you’re the type of person to air your grievances (no matter how justified) in public online. Your reputation is everything in this industry (informal reference checks with friends and former colleagues are very common) and you don’t want to be associated with anything negative if you can avoid it.

The firm might deserve it (and I know a lot of firms are toxic cesspits) but when you throw mud back your hands get dirty too and people start to look at you differently as well.

Well. I figured out why I was terminated. Mind you, I was never told anything other than “You’re doing great. Keep it up”. My boss would sometimes fake fire me because we had such a good, fun rapport.

Well. They terminated me in April. In May, the two partners hired their nephew as an analyst. Wasn’t nearly enough deal flow for him to be at all justified if I was there.
