Reneging/Recruiting While Signed

Wondering if anyone has reneged on an off cycle associate role/recruitied while being signed to another firm. A lower MM firm gave me an offer at a quite low pay and I am still in the process of a couple other firms (MM/Upper MM and one MF). Is it worth to take the gamble for the other firms or just sign?

That said, good luck either way, if you end up getting an offer from the bigger firms that is at a much higher pay rate, maybe you can speak to the lower offer firm and see if they may be willing to match it or the like

Idk. If it’s a good job then maybe just try to appreciate what you have. Careers are a long-term thing. Maybe they’ll be open to letting you have more time to think. Not sure. Good luck either way :)

I have no idea why people display such loyalty to firms that would not hesitate to cut them for pretty much any reason (underperformance, macro environment, poor cultural fit). Sign the LMM and then continue to recruit, to fit in PE you kind of have to be a bit ruthless anyway (how else are you going to e.g. fire 10% of PortCo staff) so I would recommend you optimise your own situation as much as possible.

When you say keep recruiting, how dangerous is it to go out and keep actively applying?

Obviously can’t be stupid about it but curious how careful you have to be
