Renegotiating comp after signing?
Signed a offer at a PE fund early this year for 2019. Didn't negotiate at all, and just signed because I was so excited and they were excited about me. Now I'm starting to realize I was a little bit low-balled compared to other comparable funds (didn't even ask for a signing bonus). Is it OK to try to renegotiate at this point? I was thinking about going to the headhunter first and getting their thoughts.
Why would the headhunter say that's OK? They have the potential to lose a placement if you try and A: fail and reneg; or B: the PE firm pulls their offer
You cannot and should not do this at all. I don't see why you think this would be acceptable and you would just look horrible.
What was the size of the fund and comp level?
Fund ~1B, comp ~220
That's in line with what I've seen. You won't get much more than that and you are risking respect and your offer.
