SA "Sourcing Role" Questions

Have SA interview for a well-respected PE firm in their sourcing division. My worry is that it will just be entirely cold-calling, like a glorified telemarketer, and I won't be valued bythe firm. I plan to ask about this in the interview, but I wondered if you all had any thoughts. Seems crazy to go through 4+ rounds and a SD just to cold call. Just a bit confused and looking for advice...

To be completely frank, it doesn’t seem like you’d be a good fit for the role. And that’s fine, you can always pursue IB or traditional PE or whatever you truly are passionate about. The people I know who have truly excelled in growth analyst programs enjoyed sourcing to varying extents, and viewed the role more as “a once in a lifetime opportunity for 20-somethings to speak with CEOs about businesses they dedicated their life toward building” as opposed to “glorified telemarketer.” Of course, it will get tedious and rote at times. But if this is your mentality before even starting, might as well save yourself the headache as it doesn’t seem likely you’ll enjoy the role. Inevitably lack of interest very likely indicates less success going up against those who actually truly enjoy sourcing.

Thanks for the advice. I hadn’t really thought about it that way. I came off too negative initially about the role because I didn’t really understand it and am burnt out from SA recruiting. I really do like the firm and will do the interview i think I just need to reevaluate my mindset.
