Search Fund Internship Case Study

Supposed to find small businesses with an estimated EBITDA of 1-3M and give rationale for the estimated EBITDA for a case study for the application but I don't know how to estimate EBITDA with no public financial information. pls help

Pick a field services industry, like residential plumbing or HVAC.

Then, Google what their typical EBITDA margins are. Let's say it's 20%. 

Then, Google how much a typical technician contributes in annual revenue. Let's say it's $400k. 

Therefore, to find a Company producing >=$1M EBITDA, we can assume the Company must have ~13 technicians. 

Then, find a local company via Google, and take a look at their media (either on their website or socials). Look for evidence of 13 technicians (either a team page or a video/image of their fleet). 

If you can find evidence of >=13 technicians, then the company qualifies as an appropriate target to reach out to.
