Senior Comp at top VCs (IVP / NEA)
Obviously it’s variable, but what is a good estimate range for what a GP or MD can expect to make at top VCs such as IVP and NEA?

Does anyone have a datapoint?
40 million a year
Is this common for someone who joins as an associate and just rides it out? Or are you referring to early founders?
This is median 10-year outcome for associates joining these shops.
For a fund like what you described, that raises multibillion funds every cycle, you’re looking at ~$1.5m cash comp per year (I have a good data point on $100k / month prior to a raise) and a carry grant worth $20-50m at 2x MOIC depending on GP seniority (not all GPs / MDs get comped equally), subject to vesting of course.
Couple of questions.Would the vesting period be around 10 years for this?Is this comp number for the most senior partners? Seems like the junior partners def are not making as much
Yes - this would be over the life of the fund, which would commonly be 10 years. These numbers are for GPs - not junior partners - who are also subject to clawbacks.
Understood, so it would really be more like ~3-5mil in compensation per year for junior partners?
