Sign on bonus standard?
Just got a PE offer to join a nyc shop. Didn’t include a signon bonus, should I negotiate that? Is it standard to get one?

Standard is 25k upwards to 50k+ I would definitely negotiate… especially as associate. Even analysts at least get a 10k sign on lol
Even for lateral?
Standard is 0, not sure about the previous comment. All that matters is all in comp.
Sign-on bonus is definitely not standard, especially outside of structured 2+out programs at larger shops. No clue what the guy above saying $25k+ is talking about. With that said, most places will cover moving costs if you need to move for the role.
Zero signing bonus expected - you should be compensated enough such that you’re not worried about that. Moving costs are typically covered
also if this is a decent shop and you got the offer in writing already they're not gonna go back and change it lol
can written offers not be adjusted?
i remember when i lateraled to a BB and got my written offer, i was like "oh hey where's the signing/relocation??" and the recruiter was like "lemme teach you something - this is stuff you negotiate BEFORE you get your written offer. the pay has been approved and this offer is final, we're not going back to get approvals for a bonus too"
EDIT: this is more pertinent off-cycle as i feel like any on-cycle recruitment usually comes with signing/relocation in the offer right out the gate
Is the job in another state? Also how does the offer package look? base+bonus and if you're happy with it.
from my understanding, sign on bonuses aren't a thing when lateralling. Some firms do provide relocation assistant
