SKKY Partners - Kim K

Haven't seen a thread about this but want to hear some thoughts. Read that David Brisske from Permira is headed.

How is she pulling people of this caliber? Are you a bull or a bear?

She's a billionaire. If you were a run of the mill PE partner, why wouldn't you want to jump at this opportunity especially if your focus is consumer.

I wasn't implying David Brisske is not high caliber. I was commenting on how stupid it is for this Analyst 2 to not see the value that Kim Kardashian brings to the table.

Heard the bonus is you get to sniff her booty instead of receiving cash. I'll pass.

Well, for one, it isn't just Kim "pulling" these hires in; the other partner in the firm who is going to almost certainly be running the day to day is the former head of Carlyle consumer and has a good rep on the street. But more generally, economics at mega funds suck compared to smaller startup funds if those funds can meet two basic criteria: (1) raising significant assets and (2) are willing to give carry. Kim has enormous raising + buzz generating potential, and they're almost certainly giving these early hires significant carry. The financial delta versus being a relatively junior carry holder at permira is probably pretty significant. This is all aside from the fact that it's pretty smart to pair someone with the brand reach of Kim with a smart investment team in the consumer space; the thesis makes a lot of sense at a fund level.
