So sick of this job
I genuinely don’t know how I’m going to make it to my bonus. I actually enjoyed my banking experience and I am so much more miserable now. People say it’s gets better but I don’t see how??
Everyone above me works just as hard (if not harder) than I do. Yeah they’re a lot faster at what they do - but that just means they work on even more stuff.
Get me out of here.
Would understand if you’re not in the mood but, MF / MM / LMM?
What makes it worse?

What type of fund are you at? What are your biggest pain points?
~$6bn fund that operates pretty lean.
It’s been endless BS analyses that I’m constantly needing to sprint at co-mingled with annoying as PortCo work / internal reporting.
None of it is “difficult” per se, but the excruciating detail seniors want is ridiculous. Like do we seriously need to form a view on each of the 10 components of revenue rate that collectively net out to be a $100m change and $20m impact to EBITDA??
Beyond that WHY DO WE NEED TO SPRINT AT EVERYTHING. Competitive auctions, sure I get it, and I also get trying to get things off your plate ASAP so shit doesn’t build when important stuff actually pops up.
But seriously?? You’re gonna email me at 3pm on a Sunday saying “can see turn tomorrow?” on something you don’t need to see until Thursday??
Long rant but I really don’t know if it’s my funds culture or really just the industry. I potentially have an opportunity at a smaller firm and have heard good things about the lifestyle - but I’m afraid to jump to that vs corp dev because I will literally want to off myself if it’s more of the same.
Thank god the people I work with are at least cordial, nice and respectful. They’re just workaholics man.
I know the feeling. Counting the days but we gotta tough it out. What have your weekends been like? Do you have any time to relax

French fund by any chance?
Your entire experience will be based on the people you work with. Find the right mid level and stick to them
Sounds like a fund culture issue tbh
$6Bn latest fund size or AUM?
Same. Riding it out until bonus time then full sprint ahead in terms of looking for a corporate role
How many hours do you work daily/weekly? I’m at a LMM (~1B) and work has been 40-50hrs/week. I think it definitely depends a lot on the VP you work with. For example one VP at my firm demands super granular detail but another VP stays quite high level, and working with the high-level VP probably cuts weekly hours by at least 10hrs. I’ve observed that VPs and Principals work a lot more than I do, though.
Are you based in NY or a T2/3 city?
40-50hrs per week sounds really nice if you're referring to a $1bn latest fund size (not AUM)
not nyc but also tier1 city col (boston/sf/la)
