Stanley Capital - London Office
Hey guys,
Do you have any insides on Stanley Capital?
Prior track record seems really good, but wondering how is the portfolio post-21?
How is the culture and comp?
Thanks

Career Resources
There is not much of a prior record before 2021. They were barely starting in early 2022 with self funding
Thank you. For sure someone must have some insides :)
They're exaggerating about how long they've been around, having headhunters report their fund size as more than double their actual AUM, inflate their returns & very likely their carry #s...& I'm sure there's more behind the smoke and mirrors
Where are you getting track record from? They're a start up. The team is fairly solid and must have offered great packages to get the junior/mid level folks to move from HG, Apollo etc. Would de-risk my CV first before considering a shop like that personally
Probably carry heavy tbf
Why would you de-risk? If you go from a B/EB to these places, sure, they are well less known, but yet the skills are the same or even better than the ones in MF. You lose prestige, but IMO you gain real experience (more risk-reward).
In the current environment and with their sector focus and fund size, they could very easily lose their shirt on fund 1. If that happens (highly likely, in my opinion tech funds are in for a ridiculous re-rating), they will never raise again. Have experienced something similar myself. Now is not the time to join unestablished managers
Yep. Agree actually with you. But it’s all about DD. They did a really good exit already at 6.7x and +150 IRR. And most of their PortCo is classic HC. So wondering how it is behaving now… but i get it
They sold it to themselves… not really sure how people are buying that to be honest.
agreed with above - losing their shirt on fund 1 seems very likely given all of those factors...also the ponzi move is just pathetic
one word: shady
Funds started around this time in this sector are generally good to avoid
Was approached by a HH a few months ago. Below the notes:
God damn. Thanks man
Mind sharing the headhunter firm?
Is the carry number dollars at work? So, based on participation, 2x would yield $1.4m. This feels about right.
Also, the current AUM seems to be $460m (so presume they are targeting €1bn for next fund).
Highly doubt there would be anywhere near that much carry. They're clearly overstaffed for the # of deals they've done, which isn't many - ironic considering they can't even keep a lean team themselves, yet they need to tell companies to trim down theirs. This comment section is basically pointing out red flag after red flag lol
I mean, this is the info I noted down from a headhunter. Take that with however much grains of salt you want
Bumping this. Which stage are you guys in?
Bump
Would not put my career on the line at a place like this
You seem to be particularly engaged/involved in this name, looks like you know more… so do I, have you heard anything in past 2 months?
