Starting a PE Fund, drop some tips and tricks below ⬇️

This past spring I got my MBA from Chaifetz. I figured I would get it out of the way right after undergrad because I know it’s essential to have one in PE.

The beginning part of the year I interviewed with probably 40-50 different PE groups. The interviewing experience was great, but ultimately I only got offers for entry-level roles.

So this past month I did a lot of reflecting and have decided to start my own PE firm. My intentions aren’t to just spend the capital I have committed like normal PE guys. I plan on really digging into the management operations of the company I acquire.

What I’m asking for is a little guidance on sector focus. There are a handful of ideas I have but would appreciate some feedback on the potential focus areas below:

HVAC - specifically electrical, would probably need to be more acquisitive

Entertainment - bowling alleys have a lot of opportunities, but are more capital intensive

Dry Cleaning - more asset-light, low overhead, and passive income (my favorite so far)

Multi family real estate - would require significant leverage, but the upside is insane down the road

These are the 4 main ones that interest me, but I’ve been looking at commercial/residential services broadly because there are a lot of subsectors that are extremely fragmented. I’m open to any and all suggestions - PM me if you’re interested in committing capital 🚀
