Stay PE or MF portco corp dev

Currently have the option to join a MF portco. The portco is doing very well and corp dev actually is a key cornerstone of the business (not something like 1-2 acquisitions per year). The people are nice and honestly it seems like a breath of fresh air: I can see myself long-term there. On top of that, it allows me to "jump" one year in terms of ranks (although trivial in the grand scheme of things).

However, there is still this voice in the back of my head that has a tough time relinquishing PE: not only for the lower comp, but it somehow feels like I am leaving behind what I worked (sacrificed?) almost 8 years for. Even though I dislike a lot of the work in PE, I still try to justify the grind and - I hate to say it - in all honesty I do like a bit of the "prestige" (which I am sure more people in the industry suffer from).

I know there are several topics outlining the Pros and Cons of both routes, but how have people dealt with this doubt? What made you decide on one avenue or the other?
