T2 Consulting to PE

Hi WSO

I was looking to move from a T2 Strategy Consulting Firm to PE. I was looking to talk to people who have made this transition to talk through the following:

  • How easy is it to move from strat consulting to PE?
  • How easy is it to move to PE from a T2 firm compared to MBB?
  • What is the recruitment process like?
  • What is the transition like - any regrets, pros/cons?

If anyone is willing to share example CVs and also talk about their experiences in more detail, I would love to send a message and have a conversation. Appreciate the help and guidance!

Everything you'll hear on here is likely that you have no chance.... it'll be trickier, and market is hard. You'll have to be selective, obviously MF will be near impossible, but finding some firms that place emphasis on operations could be best way into investing seat/or you may have to go for the in-house consulting teams, like capstone etc. You should target funds that are within you area of expertise from consulting, whether that's healthcare specific, etc.

Won't be easy but you do have a chance and a different side of things to speak to in interviews.
