Tech PE on the East Coast

Curious as to what the tech PE scene is like in NY/elsewhere on the East Coast. I know most top funds are in SF or elsewhere (TB in SF and MIA, Vista in Austin). Are there many top-performing tech-focused funds in NY? What about "generalist" or "multi-sector" funds that allow associates to specialize in tech?

Background: Interested in software PE specifically, but would love to avoid having to spend a career or extended time in SF, for a multitude of reasons that you can probably imagine.
