TN visa for PE funds
Hi guys:
For those who are Canadians, what has been the situation with PE funds on accepting TN visas for Canadians recently? I know things have tightened up.., recently I’ve heard some banks (think JP/MS) not allowing their canadian staff to work in IBD on TN, just wondering if you’ve seen the same in PE (aka, funds don’t want to take the risk of making the job description fitting for TN applications).
Thanks!
Depends on the fund. To clarify: Banks are not the ones that decide whether they "want staff to work in IBD on TN" it's the government. There are more than a handful of IBD analysts that I know who were deported or rejected at the border for TN. This applies to all banks.
as a resource, this would be the current list of NAFTA jobs https://www.nafsa.org/_/file/_/amresource/8cfr2146.htm">link
What about the bigger funds? Which ones are no longer open to TN?
It is not about the fund, size or type of employer. For visas and work permits in (almost) all countries the list of jobs is issued by either the government or an accredited third party.
the current TN list is linked above.
Yes I get it. But employers practice vary. Have you used TN visa before? If you did you’d know it’s not a black and white topic.
KKR and BX still sponsor for analysts out of school, assuming that'd apply to associate hires as well
