transfer to the us in pe

I‘m an analyst at a BB in London. My gf is from LA and works in London as well. However, she wants to return to the US in a couple of years (nyc/sf/la). My plan is to make the move to PE this year and I‘m in touch with a few headhunters for MFs. What are my chances of being allowed to transfer to a us office if I start working in PE? How much harder would it be compared to remaining at the BB?

Definitely easier at a BB, outside of GS most of them are totally happy to move you around if you're well-liked. Have friends who did a year in London or something, they would be quite flexible about it.

PE firm may be okay with it if you approach it just the right way and have a few years tenure, but some are really anti-internal moves (BX for example)

BX is really against internal moves in general, even if you are "downgrading" groups or have a family reason. Very political about it.

Not to say it's impossible, and there are 100% some people doing these moves especially if moving for family reasons or there for a decent amount of time, but it wouldn't be my first choice if you are going into it knowing you want to move shortly.
