Pivot from Big4 IA to IB/PE

Hello all, I'm in the middle of the second year of my Executive MBA program at a top 10 school. After spending the past 8-10 years in internal audit/risk advisory (Big4 and middle market), I'd like to pivot to a front office role. Although I hold a senior middle management role, I honestly just don't find the work engaging enough to stay until partner, which would be the next level up.

I'm in my early 30s and would be thrilled to join up as an associate. Many of the challenges I've faced in terms of informational interviews have revolved around lack of deal exposure, and access to the structured on campus recruiting cycle as an EMBA. I am learning modeling and valuation as part of my coursework and would be happy to take a supplemental modeling program/course.

1. Has anyone successfully navigated such a pivot?

2. Do you happen to have any advice in terms of recruiting for candidates in my situation?

3. Many off cycle roles require prior experience in IB (at least in the JDs I've seen) is this a hard requirement?

4. What banks would you suggest applying to?

5. Other advice, comments, snide remarks :)

Thanks in advance for your help!
