Transitioning into PE from a non-finance background

I have 4.5 years of experience in consulting with specialization in marketing and brand strategy. However over the past couple of years I have become more and more interested in PE, first from portfolio management perspective and increasingly also from investment perspective.

I have some financial modeling experience through my current job and overall a pretty good business sense that has helped me to fast-track in my current company.

Do you think it’s realistic to network myself into PE?

Or do you think I should do an MBA or similar as I only have a BSc in Marketing from a decent university?
