Warwick MSc Finance vs UCL MSc VC & PE (FinTech) — realistic outcomes if IB isn’t a lock?

Hi everyone,

I’m deciding between two UK master’s offers and would appreciate some honest perspectives.

Offers:

  • Warwick Business School – MSc Finance
  • UCL – MSc Venture Capital & Private Equity with Financial Technology

I’m still waiting on a few target-school program decisions, but I'm not exactly hopeful for any of them, and with Warwick’s deadline approaching, I need to make a realistic call based on current options rather than uncertain outcomes.

My original goal was IBbuy-side, but I'm coming to terms with the fact that I might have missed the IB train. At this point, my priority is breaking into finance, even if that means a non-traditional path (e.g. Big 4 advisory → IB / PE, which I’ve heard is feasible).

Background (brief):

What I’m trying to understand:

  • Between Warwick MSc Finance and UCL VC & PE (FinTech), which gives better practical outcomes for:

  • Does Warwick still carry strong weight at master’s level, or does UCL’s London location + G5 brand + niche focus offer better optionality?

Not chasing prestige — just trying to make the most rational decision given timing and market conditions.

Thanks in advance for any insight.
