What do I do with my FINRA licenses now that I am in PE?
So my firm doesn't have any need for my series 7, 63, 66, or 79, and they don't want me shelf registering with a BD for compliance reasons.
I assume everyone just lets them lapse, but the thought of all the potential work to relicense if I move back to IB or whatever I end up doing is painful. So much studying, thrown away.
Hi Xzas22, whoops, looks like nobody chimed in here.... maybe one of these discussions below is relevant:
Fingers crossed that one of those helps you.
Do you really think it will be that much work to pick them up if you move back to IB? There are some things you just have to know/memorize, but I felt like a lot was just common sense (I only have a 79 and 63, so take that with a grain of salt for the 7 (which I've heard is tougher) and the 66).
I just let it go. A sponsor firm can actually petition to just have you re-instated if you come back. My bank, however, did not. Had a friend come back and he had to retake the tests. So who knows. Why would you ever want to go back though?
