What shot do i have - UT Austin with a 3.9 GPA
Hey guys I just wanted to know what kind of shot I to get into private equity straight out of undergrad. Also any tips on where to find job postings for firms that would hire a candidate like me.
UT Austin
GPA: >3.9
Experience: some financial experience, once worked for a fortune 500 company over the summer
Extracirculars: Some major ones nothing too amazing
contributed all of my expenses while in college (involved working two jobs usually)
Constructive criticism is welcomed.
Only a few pe firms hire straight out of undergrad (Blackstone comes to mind) and I think they target Harvard. I can't think of any mid-market pe firms that hire straight out of undergrad - they typically like two years of ib experience.
Think a better shot would be go to BB firm, get rated top tier in your class, and then PE.
The question is who does your dad know and whom do you know..:)
