What will happen to PE compensation once Trump reclassifies carried interest as regular income?

Trump has said many times along the campaign trail that he intends to close this "loophole," though his cabinet appointees so far would suggest otherwise. However, it will be difficult to cut taxes to the levels in his proposals without closing off a good number of deductions and preferential tax rates.

If legislation taxing carried interest as ordinary income is passed in the next Congress, what will happen to compensation at PE firms?
