Why do PE firms make it so hard to send them deals? (unlike in VC)

As someone looking to raise money for a deal, why do most REPE firms have no acquisitions email contact or a way to submit deals? Limiting your deal flow to only brokers and people that you have met seems like you would be missing out on a lot of great opportunities. I know there are time wasters, but that's part of your job. Comparing this to VC, it seems like they are all about meeting founders/sponsors in any scenario and welcome deal flow with plenty of ways to contact them. Everyone is complaining about the lack of good deals, but then why is it so guarded?

Because they would be spammed beyond belief from flippers and random crappy brokers selling bad single family homes. Most people selling assets large enough to be interesting to REPE know someone who can connect them.

VC is a different ball game in many ways, but meeting and connecting with founders is still different from opening your inbox to a barrage of emails from thousands of random people not in your deal market
