Working with difficult people- how to stay motivated?
Title says it all... working in a backstabbing culture where people love to throw each other under the bus and watch them fail. How can one stay motivated and not be demoralized?

Faced this in my previous role so I feel you. Depending on their role and how senior they are, there is often times not any way to circumvent this issue. If this is a pervasive issue which won't quit your best bet may be to look for other roles and ditch the toxic work culture. Sure you can address it in political ways but the cold truth is that those who are throwing you under the bus / generally shitty to work with won't change. Places with these people tend to have higher attrition at the analyst/associate level (assuming you're at a PE firm) due to a mixture of people being over the work environment / getting let go due to a number of reasons which may not be right or fair.
My assessment really only applies to when your seniors are as you described. If it was your analyst/associate colleagues it's a whole different ballgame but I can't speak to that as my junior colleagues were great. Focus on getting out and on to greener pastures
