Career Resources
I'm sure you're a nice kid, but I'd be surprised if anyone responds to this.
Start with networking in person and via email, WSO probably isn't the best place for your efforts.
I didn't think about this, thanks for sharing how my post is perceived. I've been networking via email, LinkedIn, and events and I thought wall street oasis would be a good place to do so as well, but I guess not.
It certainly can be done, but you'll have much better outcomes via other mediums.
WSO is great for getting advice on specific situations like interviews, opinions on firms, case studies, etc. - all things that don't require people to reveal their identity.
A word of friendly advice. Dont refer to your school at T-20. It makes you sound like a douche, makes you look arrogant, and you wont have luck getting much responses.
Next time start the thread like this:
"Hey everyone, I am a 1st year student interested in learning about real estate. I'd love to learn more about it from someone in the industry. Happy to DM, talk over the phone, whenever its convenient for you. Thanks for the help!"
Thanks for the advice! You're right, it does sound douchey, I'll take that into account in the future.
Send cold emails to alumni asking to talk to them, learning about their background and day to day. I've sent a lot of emails as someone junior looking to learn more about their background and wanting to get into brokerage or then learn more about acquisitions/development. Cold email and Linkedin message alumni you will have better results.
Shooting you a DM for your ability to accept & handle criticism.
