Asking to Interview for FT positions as an Intern
Is it a bad idea to ask my boss for 30-60 minutes during the day to interview with other companies for full time positions? I am an intern, so I am already not doing a ton of work, but wanted to clear it with my boss first. What's best practice on this?
I'm going to assume that this isn't a troll, but no, it's not ok.
This will signal that you're a flight risk if they decide to extend an offer. Come up with any excuse (dentist appointment or pretty much anything else), but don't tell your existing employer that you're interviewing elsewhere, even as an intern.
its pretty mutually understood that I will not be returning even if an offer is extended. The firm is too small. My boss has even made comments about "getting me as many resume bullets as possible"

If it's a really small firm and he's an approachable kind of guy, then I'd naively ask something like "I'm hearing it's a super tough job market out there; if it's generally agreed that I won't be able to return, do you think I should be interviewing a little bit?". Just to test the water.
But do it naively. Don't go into his office with "I'm taking time off for interviewing at [ ]pm". Honestly though I'm still hesitant
