Best Real Estate Finance Course Online?
I am looking to get into real estate development but have a minimal knowledge in real estate finance. I am aware that in order to enter the field a satisfactory knowledge of real estate finance is necessary. What is the best course I can take online that will provide me the necessary real estate finance information to be successful in the real estate development field? And what finance concepts in particular are necessary for real estate development if I was to just do research on my own?
Buy Real Estate Finance & Investments by either Linneman or Brueggeman. Linneman's is a bit lighter and easier to read than Brueggeman's but both are more than sufficient.
I tried Brueggeman & Fischer and it's nearly impossible to read, it's so verbose. I think Property Metrics is the best place to start, give Adventures in CRE a good effort, and just Google terms as they come to mind, i.e. NPV, IRR, Cash on Cash, Cap Rate, MOIC, EGR, refinancing, LIBOR/BTFR....
Approach learning in a bottom up fashion rather than trying to read a whole textbook.
True. Brueggeman is extremely verbose.
Property Metrics & Adventures in CRE are both awesome. Also, having a decent mastery of financial modeling should be a part of your repertoire. A lot of good sources for that, but some that come to mind are: Adventures in CRE, GetREFM.com, and even some of the practice models that are thrown around in this forum.

Im planning on entering the real estate development field once I graduate and think that a certain degree of real estate finance knowledge would be extremely helpful in securing a position. For this reason i'm planning on getting some sort of certification over my winter break. Some certified courses I found include the ones offered on WallStreetPrep.com. Are there any others I should be aware of? And which is the most credible, and will look the best on a job resume? Thanks.

I am transitioning out of the military and looking for an opportunity in real estate development. I need to improve my experience with excel real estate financial modeling. REFM seems to show up in a lot of searches but I just found an excel real estate modeling course through NYU which I could pay for with my post 9-11 GI bill. Does anybody have any experience with this particular program or any other options they would recommend?

It's all going to depend on who the instructor is. See if Josh Kahr (teaches at Columbia and Georgetown's MPSRE) offers something. Also check courses offered by Bruce Kirsch.
I personally did not like REFM's course. If you understand the basics of modeling and can keep up I would highly recommend Kahr.
