Blackstone RE Canada
Blackstone recently opened a real estate office in Canada, with Janice Lin (most recently CIO at Revera) taking lead. Does anybody know whether the team has already recruited Analysts, Associates, etc.?
Does anybody have any insight they can share? Any upcoming recruiting for the team (I haven't seen any posts for positions within the team since being announced). Who would be the realistic candidates for an an associate position on the team (REIB analysts/associates, current REPE associates at the larger firms such as Brookfield, Slate, Kingsett, etc.?)?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

If it's just a coverage office, they won't need to hire analysts locally though? They could just source deals locally and bring in excel monkeys from their other offices to do the grunt work.
I have heard rumblings from people I know who were approached but this was some time ago. From a pension, not real estate and not analyst level.

Really curious on this too, they haven't even mentioned where exactly the office will be even now that it's been a few months since the announcement.
I'm in the Toronto office. Most like me are from the US. I've been with them for a few years in NY and now transferred over. My experience is typical for BX. Target school, BB now BX.
Any talks/chances of hiring juniors with Canadian experiences?
I can't talk strategy because I'm not at the table for those meetings but I will say between the Head and CIO for Canada, they have alot of connections so jobs here filled without getting posted. If I was betting I'd say that once they put Toronto on their website, there will be a few positions to apply for.
