BREDS Originations

I was recently contacted about a role at BX in their RE Debt Strategies group. The role is centered around originations. Has anyone had experience within this specific group? Would love some insight as to the type of questions that may come up during the initial (phone) interviews. To-date, my experience has been predominately equity/asset transactions so I would love some guidance on how to prepare for any discussions. Any input is much appreciated.

If you're looking to move to the debt side, BREDS is where you want to be. They have a lot of capital, and different buckets of capital, so they will be active at this stage and all stages in the real estate cycle. There's a lot of debt capital out there, but BREDS has a lot of competitive advantages.

I have contacts there, though I never worked with them personally. I know their team is made of athletes, who can do originations, underwriting, Asset Management, and assist at all stages of the closing process. If you're on the originations team, you are on the investments team. You will be tasked with knowing how to make money and how mitigate all the risks. Be prepared by knowing their debt strategies, and offer some places you think you could invest. Be prepared with a list of key relationships you have in the industry and your track record of doing deals with these players. If you're on the equity side, show off how you financed your recent deals and how your knowledge as a borrower can be applied to the role. Gluck

flyineagle789 the functions you are describing ... are for senior roles..." Be prepared with a list of key relationships you have in the industry and your track record of doing deals with these players.... "

what about for an associate role in BREDS originations? Still would require you have existing relationships with brokers/borrowers?!
