Brookfield WLB / Culture / Perks
Does anyone have any insights on what it’s like to work at BAM. I am interviewing for one of their capital raising teams and just wanted to know what it’s like to work at the company. Are there any benefits at Brookfield to note?
Brookfield forced all of their employees to go back to office in the summer of 2020, in the middle of covid with mandatory white shirt and ties. I see back office guys in full suits on fridays. This is toronto tho
Same for NY. They’re top notch but I have had a number of opportunities to join in past couple years but I’m opposed to joining any firm that requires office 5 days a week. Also feel like they’re behind the ball when it comes to shedding non-core office assets. They’re still very much heavy into office and want to be seen as contrarian.
Jesus haha. This is a great way to sum up their culture
Really don’t understand back/middle office employees wearing anything more formal than a button down and chinos, let alone a full suit.
What does this group do at Brookfield?
What does the capital raising group at Brookfield do?
Curious as well. Is this fundraising, secured debt financing (asset level), unsecured debt raising (corporate), or maybe a mix?
What is all in comp for a role like this?
In office plus suits 5 days a week? For real? Lol boomers.
Wow. You would have to 3x my cash comp for me to put up with that.
Adding to OPs question. Does Brookfield have a pretty flat comp structure (i.e. does an acquisitions associate make the same as asset management or the same as corporate associates in corp fin, investor relations, etc.)?
What would a modeling test look like for a role like this?
Why would there be a modeling test for a marketing job?
Not sure why the MS here... what diligence or models are you running when raising capital? Basic knowledge of spreadsheets and presentation making skills are required. You can ask the deal team for any heavy deal specific analysis. You are paid for relationships, strategically marketing the returns of the product, and closing capital commitments. Very different jobs that are equally important and require different skills.
Following... Is this considered a back office role?
Is it really back office if they’re paid as well as the deal guys ?
Definitely not paid as well as deal guys.
Recruiter reached out to me for this role and tried to play it off as a front office role when I know it’s not. Other recruiters reached out to me for same role and were upfront that it is not a transactions role. You’re supporting the deal team. Depends on what you wanna do with your career but if you want to be working on the front end of deals then I wouldn’t recommend this role. Never got a chance to confirm comp but it should be good considering it’s Brookfield but still a hard no from me.
At the junior level it’s not front office, at the senior level it’s definitely more aligned with front office roles. It’s a sales job, you’re directly effecting firmwide revenue with your raises. Obviously as a junior you’re not there yet - but you have to get to the senior role somehow.
I have reached the modeling test for this role. Any idea what something like that would entail? Was told it will only be 90 minutes!
