Cold Emailing - Buy side of real estate

Hey all, as some of you may have noticed, I am looking to get into the buy side of real estate. I am coming from a completely different industry but I have started taking steps to get onto the RE path:

  1. Joining ULI

  2. Starting REFM courses

  3. Reading "The Real Estate Game"

To supplement this, I want to start "cold" emailing VP's and above at buy side shops in my area (NY, NJ, CT).

Is there any run-of-the-mill template to follow assuming we don't connect on other levels (know similar people, alumni, prior work history, etc.)?

Thanks.

Then ABC's of real estate are, "Always be Calling". I think that you are making great steps by joining ULI and starting REFM classes. These show that you have the insatiable curiosity that is absolutely necessary in the industry.

But emailing will only go so far, I suggest picking up the phone and calling. Even if only a few people answer, it's a much better method of introducing yourself, showing initiative and selling your resume.

Good luck my man.

I'm not going to disagree with @CREF1524" but I will say that I gave up on cold calling a long time ago. The people who you are trying to connect with - executives, partners, big swinging dicks - are busy and often have gatekeepers. I've found it to be far more productive to email them directly and at the end of the email suggest scheduling a time to talk. It kind of lets them respond at their own pace while also recognizing that you're interested in a conversation over the phone.
