Monkeys, I've been trying to find online if there are any macros or hotkeys for the paste formula option. I find myself using this option all the time in my modeling and really can't find another method quicker than just right clicking and clicking paste fx. If anyone has any advice on this let me know - perfectly alright with still right clicking though.
Onto the main topic - what are your favorite hotkeys to use? Besides F4, Ctrl+c, Ctrl+v, Ctrl+z, etc. What do y'all use in your modeling methods that makes your jobs quicker/more efficient?

I also use this (old habits die hard), but f instead of d-pad down 1, but you're lying to yourself if you think ctrl+alt+v isn't three keystrokes by itself

ctrl + ~ (a toggle which allows you to view all the formulas in all the cells. Instead of the number e.g. 4 appearing in the cell you get the formula e.g. sum(#,#,#)

Check out this page on WSP for printable sheets with all the keyboard shortcuts that you will need. I would also suggest buying Boost from WSP. It saves a lot of time and adds some very helpful shortcuts to Excel.
Or download macabacus lite for free as someone above mentioned. Not sure how it compares to boost, but it'll have the basic macros at least. Never tried the full version, but I think remember seeing either boost or macabacus provide a comparison chart on prices and functionality between the the two and other providers).
The best shortcuts that I did were just recording formatting macros and adding them to my quick access toolbar so that you can use alt 1, alt 2, alt 3, etc. I have 1 and 2 as increase and decrease decimals, 3 as center across selection, and then 4-6 are standard formats that we use on my team.
Some common others that I use, alt + (autosum), alt h l s (color scale conditional formatting), alt e a a (clears everything in the cell), f7 (spellcheck), alt h m u (unmerging cells when cleaning up books that I inherit), alt h w (wrap text). Will add to this if I remember more that I use commonly.

Surprised at how few people actually use this.
Never.ever.mouse. Only to turn off the security banner. alt-e-s-f is paste formula rookie - spend some time in the alt-e-s menu - will save you years over your career.
Mouse is never quicker - first you have to take it out of your desk, then put batteries in it, turn it on, sync it to bluetooth, then you can start clicking like an intern. Mo mouse mo problems - ne touche pas.
Everything should/can be mouseless and faster. windows+arrow keys to move windows, alt-tab to tab through programs, windows key+type name of program to open shit. ctrl-w to close tabs, ctrl-w-tab-space to close docs without saving (no tab/space to save). ctrl9/ctrl0 and shiftctrl9/0 for hiding and unhiding rows/columns - you might need to change language settings on windows if its not picking up the unhide columns. windows+L to lock the computer - happens to be the perfect fit for pinkie and thumb with 1 hand. windows-down to hide windows. ctrl-arrow key helps navigate through text much quicker - throw in a shift to highlight what you're navigating through.
There are just too many good ones - get used to not modeling with a mouse, force yourself to hit alt and follow the letters on the ribbon to find what you need - after 2-3 months you'll learn all the commonly used ones.

EDIT: You can get rid of the Enable Editing banner with alt-f-i-e or you can create your own quick access toolbar, so no, there is literally never a reason to use the mouse. While we're on the topic, adding an email button to the quick access toolbar in excel/word/ppt is another good practice too - alt+4+e is fewer keystrokes than alt-tabbing to outlook, and ctrl-n for new email (ctrl+1, ctrl+n if you're not already in the email section of outlook).

also F12 on the enable editing thing. It'll prompt you to enable saving, say yes, esc, then editing is enabled. Haven't tried alt, f, i, e before but seems smooth.
Powerpoint quick access: alt 1 for the align menu (ex alt 1 c for align center) alt 2 for group alt 3 is for propitch copy paste alt 4 for set transparent (for logos)

my firm bought the macabacus pro (like $10/mo or something) and it is definitely worth it. totally revamped and better than turbo tts trace precedents/dependents, autocolor, and hundreds of other embedded macros which make life easier
I don't touch the mouse on excel at all. There are hotkeys for everything you need. There's simply no reason to use the mouse.

Don't forget to use the Quick Access Toolbar. Shit you have there will be hotkeyed to alt-1, alt-2, alt-3 etc. Very handy for things that you do frequently which have slightly unwieldy hotkeys, like indentation, decimals, font/cell colour and so on.

Navigating Windows shortcuts (Originally Posted: 08/29/2011)
Ok - So I am in Windows and I want to save a file (pressing F12) now this dialog box opens. How can I save the file in the right location without pressing tab 25x (and I of course do not want to use the mouse) Also I want to create a new folder, so I press the mouse down button on the keyboard and then w, but this only works if no other file is currently preselected. How can I unselect it.
What other shortcuts do you use for Windows ( I am not talking about the office apps). Like backspace and typing the beginning letter of a folder etc.

bump - I press ctrl + O to open the file explorer but then have to resort to the mouse...any way around this?
What I normally do is copy the path you want to save the file to from the file explorer window. The hot keys are Alt + D to highlight the path, then copy and alt + tab to switch back to excel. Then F12 to open save as and paste the path in the file name box and hit enter. It will pull up the folder from the path you pasted, then you can name your file and hit enter to save the file in your desired folder/location.
