CRE Comp Increases - What is (or is there) a standard?

A brief background:

One of my younger work friends from a previous job was negotiating for base and bonus for a new job he got on the acquisitions side after being at a REIB for a couple of years. Having been at the same firm he was a while back and having a few data points of friends and my own experience, he asked me for a range I thought would be reasonable to try to hit with the new firm. After we hashed it out he thanked me, went on his way and went to the final stage/negotiation phase, and ended up accepting the offer, but the interesting thing he said was that the interviewers/senior guys at the shop actually asked him a version of the 'where do you see yourself in 5 years' question but with respect to annual rate of change for compensation. He was thrown for a loop, as I would have been, but he told me how he answered it and I thought it was pretty good, obviously mentioned that by that point he would be producing, have more experience, be more value-add, etc.

So that got me thinking, given how disparate comp is in CRE, what do you think an average % increase is per year, assuming that at least some of your comp is not tied to production (i.e., junior roles)? 3%? 5%? 10%? 20%+? I know a lot of us have discussed RE $ compensation at point x in a career, but this is more focusing on what everyone has seen from a rate of change perspective, assuming that someone is making more or less a market rate to start and a firm isn't trying to play catch up. Interested to hear your thoughts - aiming to discuss all-in figures but thinking about a break-out by base, bonus, etc. is welcome as well.

EDIT: I'll throw in my guess at 10-15%.
